So today, I took notes and pictures about my day to commemorate a normal, day in the life of the Klaw family. And I have to say, though it was hard to remember to keep track of things, the times I paused and either wrote or took pictures, it really was quite enjoyable. So here we go: November 14, 2012
2:45-3:08 Woke up to Owen, walking into my room and attempting to crawl into my bed. After last night's debacle of trying to wake up Brian, only to hear incoherent sounds emitted from his mouth, I decided I'd take Owen back to his bed. Incredibly, he fell asleep quickly and I got to make my way back to my Tempurpedic rather than spending over an hour on the hard floor beside Owen's bed.5:00 Brian woke me up from a dream. It took me until 5:15 to finish the dream and get my sorry butt out of bed and downstairs to start our P90X workout. Incidentally, we are about on P180X or so, but hey, we are getting results.6:15 Shower; one of my favorite parts of the day because all I can hear is WATER. This morning, I tried to convince myself I had cancer. Then, I thought of a friend who's son has cancer and I wondered which is worse: losing a child or dying young. Seriously; my mind just needs to turn off sometimes. To calm myself, I started thinking of songs and thought of an incredibly sad song by Dave Matthews where his wife appears to be leaving him. So yeah; so much for my happy time in the shower.6:50 Breakfast. I tried to check in on the internet while answering Eli's incessant questions and building Bob the Builder's Lego trucks for Owen. I broke up one fight, then another. Braedy required applesauce because he finally has a loose tooth. After I broke up the second fight, Braedy attempted to console Eli regarding how annoying Owen is by saying, "I know who was the nicest baby. Jesus."
7:25 Broke up my 3rd fight of the morning by showing the older boys pictures of families in Africa who have dirt floors and get food from garbage dumps. Not my proudest Mom moment ever.
By 7:44 we were all in the car on our way to school. Owen, as usual, pitched a fit. Eli picked on Braedy, and Braedy yelled back. By the time I dropped off the kids at 7:56, everyone was happy.

At 8:33, I had finished my trip to Walmart necessitated by us hiring an incompetent housekeeper. Finally, I had to buy my own cleaning supplies. Darn it.
In the morning, Owen and I played Legos and marbles, and finally made scones.
When I asked Owen if he wanted to continue helping to make the scones, he said, "Do it moms' self". I was trying to teach him to count the eggs, and I said, "one egg. Now, what is this one?" and he replied, "The last one". He was technically right. When I asked, "Owen, please get out the pan", he replied, "I'm on it Mom." Indeed.
10:30 Scones in the oven; Owen watching Bob the Builder.
By 11:45 Owen was out for nap time!
1:10 Owen woke up saying, "I want scone!"
Another side note: Owen was completely dry all day today until after dinner. I think the kid might have potty training down, but we're too lazy to take him out of diapers full time and try it for real. Either way, I'm glad it's clicking and we're going through less diapers.
This afternoon, Owen had over a 1/2 an hour timeout because he wouldn't apologize for throwing a pillow at me. I rearranged Eli's room (something he agreed to, creating more space for him to play and freaked him out at bedtime) and really think it looks great.
We ate comfort food for dinner: homemade mac and cheese, corn dog muffins and corn.
Way too many carbs, but it all went over quite well (and made quite the mess).
By 6:25 the kitchen was all cleaned up thanks to the Adele station on Pandora helping me to motivated and sing along while scrubbing pans and sweeping. Here's a day's worth of crumbs:
Here's Braedy reading our Thanksgiving tree.
I never stop marveling at kids who learn to read. It's just amazing.
Between 6 and 7, the kids played hard with Brian. Here's Owen "wrestling", while Braedy kept talking and Eli kept reading. We're definitely multi-taskers around here. Eli had finished his melt down regarding moving things in his room and having a math test tomorrow. Whew.
By 8:00, the kids were all in bed and BK and I could enjoy Modern Family. At 8:30, BK complained about his currently job and at 8:45 I opened my second beer so I could be a "good wife" and keep listening.
It seems mundane and boring, but sometimes, that's life. It's great to find the time to laugh at my circumstances (or what the kids say) throughout the day. I had fun today, and that's certainly what matters. Tomorrow, it all starts again.
"I know who was a good baby. Jesus." Made me laugh out loud.
ReplyDeleteThanks for participating in the link up! I have just loved reading the details of everyone's days. They're all so different.
That was great! Many, many gems in the report.
ReplyDeleteIf you learn someday to shut off your mind (in shower or, better yet, in the dark of the night) do let me know!
